Most visitors are relatively unfamiliar with Yamaboku. It's a ranch in the summer and becomes a hidden powder spot during the winter. Unlike most of the ski hills in Japan, all of the slopes at Yamaboku remain 100% natural terrain and many are not groomed.

Yamaboku is located right next to Shiga Kogen and the top of the mountain is around 1600m. During prime ski season, Yamaboku gets snow as good as Shigakogen.

Despite only having 3 chair lifts, Yamaboku's breathtaking beauty and mellow slopes make it an ideal mountain to visit.
