With 300 hectares of terrain, 50km of slopes, a 1085m vertical drop, and over 10m of annual snowfall, Nozawa Onsen is suited for pretty much every type of skier and snowboarder. In addition to its wide variety of slopes for all skill levels, Nozawa Onsen is also known for being the best ski village in Japan.
Nozaw Onsen is well connected with 2 gondolas and 18 chair lifts. Furthermore the centrally located Yu-road(moving walk) from the core of the village provides visitors with immediate access to the mountain.
The top half of this mountain has mellow slopes, while the lower half offers stepper runs. The combination of terrain makes this mountain ideal for both snowboarding and skiing.
Nozawa Onsen has the most in-bound off-piste runs in northern Nagano, giving its visitors a greater chance of shredding powder snow. If you're interested in riding powder, this mountain provides easier access, safer runs, and more powder turns than going into the sidecountry or the backcountry.
Nozawa Onsen's village life is a must-see for visitors. After long day of skiing deep powder, soaking in one of the famous 13 free hot springs in the village, and then heading to Foot Bar on the main street of the village some for apres-ski drinks is an ideal way to wrap up an afternoon. In the evenings, visitors can experience Izakaya, a Japanese style restaurant/bar, and enjoy the local sake, Mizuo, along with fantastic Japanese cuisine.
